2026 CHSAA June Live Period Team Camp Top Performers

On Friday, June 26, we got to Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, New York for the first day of the annual Catholic High School Athletic Association Team Camp (CHSAA). 30 schools representing the Archdiocese of New York, Catholic high schools located in the five boroughs of New York City and also Westchester County, all competed in front of college coaches in the hopes of obtaining athletic scholarships. The NCAA June Scholastic (Ie., these events are hosted by school associations, not AAU organizers) D1 Live Period events during the second and fourth weekends in June Throughout the first date of the team camp, there were definitely some talented players that showcased their play. Here are the standouts for the first day of action:

 

Payton Wilson 6-8, Forward, Holy Cross High School, Class of 2028 - A forward that is a dominant presence on both ends of the floor. Is a physical specimen that can outwork the opposition and obtain rebounds and block shots on the defensive end. Has the ability to be a dominant finisher in the low-post as he throws down thunderous dunks and is able to make turnaround hook shots on the offensive end.


Justin DeSena 6-3, Shooting Guard, St. Francis Preparatory High School, Class of 2028 - A guard that has the ability to make his presence felt with his scoring ability. Has a nice shooting touch from long range and is able to drive in transition and finish efficiently. Has the ability to find ways to stay open so that he can be in the right areas to get his shot off. Is a fearless rebounder when the ball goes up.


Austin Dottin 6-4, Point Guard, St. Francis Preparatory High School, Class of 2029 - A guard that has excellent court vision and has the ability to be a solid floor general. Has the ability to put the ball on the floor and can get past the opposition with pure quickness. Is able to finish efficiently when going to the basket. Has plenty of athleticism, as he has the ability to throw down dunks as well.


Christian Brown 6-3, Shooting Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Class of 2027 - A guard that has plenty of energy when on the court and is able to find ways to be efficient for his team. Is able to put the ball on the floor and showcase his skill set in various ways. Has the ability to get to the basket and is a good finisher at the rim. Is known for getting his shot off efficiently from three-point range.


Hector Almodovar, Jr. 5-11, Point Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Class of 2028 - A guard that is able to see the floor efficiently and is able to put his teammates in position to score. When there’s a fast break, he is able to make that open pass and can the ball to his teammates while they’re going to the basket. Has the ability to get to the basket and can score efficiently.


Cheikh Samb 6-4, Small Forward, Cardinal Hayes High School, Class of 2028 - A forward that is able to play both the two and three positions and is able to make great plays on the floor. Is a great defensive player that is able to obtain steals on the defensive end and can create a fast break opportunity on the other end. Is able to drive to the basket and is great at finishing.


Jasiah Narcisse 6-3, Shooting Guard, Nazareth High School, Class of 2029 - A guard that has the ability to make his presence felt in multiple ways when he’s on the court. Is able to post up on the opposition and is able to move around off the ball and get free as a way to get his shot off when the ball is kicked to him. Has the ability to dish the ball to his teammates when the opportunity presents itself. Has a nice shooting touch.


Shane Lopez 5-11, Point Guard, Mount St. Michael Academy, Class of 2028 - A guard that has the ability to be a force on the court from his position. Is a player that has the ability to find his teammates when they’re open or dish them the ball when the opportunity presents itself. Is a player that has a nice shooting touch from three-point range. Has a penchant for driving to the basket and finishing.


Kayleeb George 6-6, Forward, Mount St. Michael Academy, Class of 2027 - A forward that is a formidable presence in the post and can attack in transition. Has a penchant for blocking shots and altering shots on the defensive end, due to his long wingspan. Has the ability to a force on the offensive end, as he is able to finish efficiently when at the rim.


Julon Dubarry 5-11, Point Guard, Bishop Loughlin High School, Class of 2028 - A guard that has as penchant for seeing the floor and making good decisions when it comes to holding down the reins for his team. Has the ability to use his speed and quickness when on the fast break. Has the ability to distribute the ball to his teammates, which could present scoring opportunities. Is able to drive to the basket and score efficiently.


Kwaseem Sherwood 6-0, Shooting Guard, Bishop Loughlin High School, Class of 2027 - A guard that has plenty of quickness and gives his team plenty of much-needed energy in the backcourt. Has the ability to get his shot off when he’s on the wing. Has the ability to drive to the basket and is able to finish through contact.


Michael Kmetz 6-5, Forward, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2027 - A forward that is able to make his presence felt when on the court in various ways. Is a physical player that can absorb contact when going up for rebounds or driving to the basket to score. Has the ability to step out on the wing and can shoot from long range. Is able to move around when off the ball and is great at setting screens.
