South Bronx Preparatory School, is a New York City public school serving grades six through twelve. The “Prep” in its name refers to college preparation, not private-school status. Its student population usually averages around 615. It is located on E 145th Street. The school uses a 11:1 student-teacher ratio and a strong community of families, teachers, and staff to guide their students to future college entrance and life success.

The boys varsity basketball team competes in the PSAL Bronx 1, Division 2A. Last season was very successful for the Cougars. They went 14-0 in conference play and advanced to the PSAL Division 2A semi-finals, falling to the ultimate champions, Seward Park.

The team is head coached by Paul Campbell, who will be entering his 20th season at the helm. Below, we profile the keys players for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

#1 Michale Glover Jr. (2027) 6’3 guard - The son of former Iona College star Mike Glover, and the apple didn’t fall far from the tree for Mike Jr. He is an uber athlete and is developing to reach his full potential. He has a solid mid-range game but he is at his best getting downhill and attacking the rim with thunderous dunks and acrobatic finishes. Glover has started to add the long ball to his arsenal as well. NY Hoops World named him as Top 50 Player for the upcoming PSAL season.

#15 Yanziel Martinez (2027)

#24 Neri Garcia (2029)

#25 Abdul Hydara (2029)

#32 Damon Tucker (2027)

#33 Jayden Urena (2029)
