2025-26 Loomis Chaffee School Player Profiles

The Loomis Chaffee School is a high academic, coeducational, college preparatory school for boarding and day students in grades 9–12, including postgraduate students, located in Windsor, CT, seven miles north of Hartford. It was founded in 1874 by James Chaffee Loomis, a lawyer and politician. Seventy percent of Loomis Chaffee’s 740 students reside on the school’s 300-acre campus and represent forty-four foreign countries and thirty-one U.S. states.


Loomis’ boys varsity basketball team competes in the seven state wide, college prep level New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class A (large schools), and they also compete in the Founders League conference. The team is coached by Russell “Rock” Battistoni. The program has tremendous history of placing high level student-athletes into high quality college basketball programs.


The team’s 2026-27 team will be featuring the players profiled below.


Benji Grayer (2027) 6’1 guard - From Del Ray Beach, FL, a tough-nosed lefty guard. He has the ability to use his physical frame to finish off two feet. He is an improved three-point shooter and a gritty defender. He made a jump from his sophomore to junior season, and his coaching staff expects a bigger jump into his senior campaign. 4.1 gpa


Zayd Muhammad (2027) 6’8 wing - From Atlanta, GA, Muhammad is a skilled offensive player who can score at all three levels. He is a good athlete that finishes above rim. He is a gritty defender with versatility. Plays club ball with AC Georgia. 3.5 gpa

Jay Walsh (2027) 6’5 small forward - From Atlanta, GA, Marist High, where he earned 2025-26 All-Region First Team. He has a smooth game with the ability to score at all three levels. Walsh has a very good all around game. Last season, he averaged 17ppg, 38% 3FG. 3.5 gpa


Luca Balducci (2028) 6’0 point guard - 2025-26 All Founders League Honorable Mention. 2025 Mexican National 16u Team. 2026 NBA Basketball Without Borders Next Up camp in Turkey Invitee. From Monroe, NY. Balducci is a tough competitor with the ability to score in bunches. He averaged 13.5ppg, 3reb, 2.5ast, 37% 3FG, 75%FT.  Plays AAU with Expressions. 3.7 gpa Video highlights 


Brandon McCloud (2028) 6’4 small forward - From East Longmeadow, MA, Ford is a two sport athlete (Holds a football offer from Boston College). He is a versatile defender and has improved his game around the rim. He rebounds out of his area. Ford has good size and length, and he is focused on fully developing his skill set. 3.5 gpa   Video highlights

 

Adrian Mordi (2028) 6’7 wing - From London, England, Mordi is an athletic wing with a good handle for his size. He has the ability to start and finish the break. He is an above-the-rim finisher with a solid perimeter game. A versatile defender.

 

Logan Weiland (2028) 6’9 forward - From Beaver, PA, Weiland has good size and is athletic. A productive scorer, a plus defender and shot blocker. Last season at Beaver Area High, he averaged: 13.5ppg, 10rebs, 3ast, 2 blk. Plays club ball with Scoring Factory Elite.  4.3gpa


Yannick Koehler (2028) - 6’5 small forward - From Hong Kong. Good 3pt shooter. Improved ball handler and defender. Active on both ends with doing the little things. 3.9gpa


Charlie Grayer (2029) 6’2 guard - From Del Ray Beach, FL, Grayer has deep 3pt range. He is an improved ball handler with the ability to finish around rim and create for others. Tough defender. Will show a big jump from his freshman season. Plays club ball with Riverside Hawks.


Trae Ford (2029) 6’2 wing - From West Hartford, CT, Ford is a three sport athlete (track and football). He is growing his skill set. Has good length and is athletic.


Marcus Fraser (2029) 6’10 forward - From Springfield, MA, Fraser has a big frame and a lot of upside. He is active on the glass. Good hands with solid touch around the rim. Improving face up game. Good motor and the ability to rebound out of area.


Chase Smith (2029) 5’11 guard - From Shelton, CT. He has a crafty game with the ability to score at all three levels. Improving quickness and athleticism. Plays with chip on his shoulder. He’s got good control to finish inside through contests from the defense. Mature playmaker.  Video highlights
