Greenwich Country Day School 2026-27 Player Profiles
Greenwich Country Day School (GCDS) is a co-ed independent day school, founded 1926 by Florence Rockefeller and a group of local parents. It is located in Greenwich, CT a New York City bedroom community, about 38 miles north of the city. Prior to 2019, the school only went up to 9th grade. It since goes through 12th grade, with its first senior class graduating in 2023. GCDS is one of the wealthiest and best-resourced day schools in the country. President George W. Bush attended the school. Its graduating seniors are now going to colleges such as Princeton, Columbia, Dartmouth, Chicago, MIT, Penn, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern and Amherst.
Like its academic profile, its varsity sports teams are also ascending rapidly. Their facilities include five full sized gyms, the most recent being financed by the Cleveland Cavalier All NBA star Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell is a GCDS 9th grade alum, and his mother worked at the school. The boys varsity basketball team competes in the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) and vies for a post season bid in the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class B (mid-sized school) division. It was only one season just after graduating the school’s first senior class, 2023-24, when they captured a FAA championship.
The program looks to further fuel their upward momentum, as they have brought in a proven FAA and NEPSAC champion Drew Gladstone to now be the team’s head coach. Gladstone left his D1 Northern Illinois associate head coaching job to return to his hometown of Greenwich. Gladstone played high school at Benjamin N. Cardozo High School in Queens. That entailed playing in the New York City’s Public School Athletic League under coach, Ron Naclerio, the winningest coach in PSAL history. Gladstone was named a Reebok ABCD All-American, a McDonald’s All-American nominee and was a Jordan Classic participant in AAU ball. His college ball was played in the Big East Conference at DePaul. Gladstone’s coaching career started as a special assistant at Manhattan in 2011-12. His FAA and NEPSAC head coaching run was at St. Luke’s School (CT), which is now a big conference rival of GCDS. As St Luke’s head coach 2014-17, his teams went 64-12 overall, with only two losses across his final two seasons. That included two New England championships, two FAA league and tournament titles in 2016 and 2017 and Gladstone getting selected by his coaching peers as the New England Class C Coach of the Year in 2016 and 2017. His second stint in college coaching took him to Indiana University 2017-2021. Northern Illinois brought him on board from 2021 through last season.

Nick Triolo (2027) 5’11 guard - Triolo is a physical scorer who can operate from all three levels. He is a shooter with range, but he is relentless at attacking the paint and finishing against bigger opponents. Triolo will be one of the veteran leaders on this young GCDS team. Plays club ball with 6th Boro Hoops.
Tyler Mitchell (2028) 6’3 guard - A two sport (football) athlete who can get out in transition and play above the rim. He is a developing 3-point shooter that will make him a tough matchup when combined with his ability to slash and finish through contact. Good gpa
Zaylin Mullins (2028) 6’0 guard - Mullins is an athletic combo guard who can score it and distribute just as well. He has a consistent jump shot and uses his size and strength to get to his spots. He is giving the Tigers a three-headed monster backcourt of multiple ballhandlers who can really score the ball and play up-tempo.
Sebastian Rivera (2028) 6’6 small forward - Rivera is an athletic forward who is constantly on the glass. He can play above the rim and is expanding his game to be able to step out and knock down open shots. Plays club ball with 6th Boro Hoops. Good gpa
Chase Robinson (2028) 6’2 point guard - A transfer from Iona Prep (NY), he is an athletic guard who can play above the rim. He excels in transition and will look to add tempo to this team with his speed and ability to get the ball up the court quickly. Has an already robust D2 recruitment with D1 schools in the mix as well. Plays club ball with Crown Basketball.
Nolan Makita (2029) 6’11 forward - Makita is a high motor front court player who brings size, skill and energy to the Tigers. This Canarsie High (NY) transfer can change ends exceptionally well for a player of his age and length and has no problem doing the dirty work. This super high ceiling prospect already holds an offer from Austin Peay.
