Top Performers 2026 Dyckman Basketball Tournament Quarters

On Tuesday, September 8, we were at Monsignor Kett Playground in the Inwood section of Manhattan for the quarterfinals of the Dyckman Basketball Tournament. Six teams played in to advance to championship night, which was the following night. Several of the teams, which had many of the Tri-state area’s players, put up great performances in order to advance to the next round, and end their summer on a high note. Below are the standouts for the three games.

Jack Liz Martinez 6-2, Point Guard, Christ the King High School, Mookie’s All-Stars, Class of 2027 - A guard that has plenty of quickness and flashiness in his game and makes highlight-reel worthy plays. Has thte ability to find his teammates when they’re open and when they’re on the break. Has the ability to drive to the basket to score and can finish through contact.

Shane Lopez 5-11, Point Guard, Eagle Academy-Bronx, Road to Riches, Class of 2028 - A guard that has plenty of finesse in his game and has the ability to make his presence felt when he’s on the court. Is a player that has a penchant for playin strong defense and forcing the opposition into turning the ball over. Has penchant for getting to the basket efficiently and finishing in transition.

Demari Watson, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Road to Riches, Class of 2029 - A guard that has the ability to showcase his toughness and grit when on the court. Has the ability to obtain rebounds and can get downcourt with ease. Is able to finish through contact and has plenty of athleticism. Has the ability to use his defensive prowess when he goes up for blocks. Has a penchant for finishing at the rim.

Christian Brown 6-3, Shooting Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Jungle Athletics, Class of 2027 - A guard that has the ability to play off the ball and is able to find ways to be effective on the court. Has a penchant for getting open so that he can receive the ball so that he can get his shot off with ease. Is able to showcase his athleticism when he goes to the basket, as he can also go to the rim.

Jourdan Archevald 6-0, Point Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Jungle Athletics, Class of 2028 - A guard that has the ability to be a playmaker and is able to give his teammates a chance to flourish when he is on the court. Has plenty of quickness and is able to control the tempo when he’s not the offensive end. Has the ability to get to the basket and finish efficiently with layups. Is able to distribute the ball to his teammates so that they can score.

Tyler Romeo 6-1, Shooting Guard, Achievement First Brooklyn High School, Jungle Athletics, Class of 2027 - A guard that has the ability to make his presence felt on the court with his offense. Is able to drive to the basket with ease and is a great finisher when he gets to the basket, as he is a great slasher and has plenty of athleticism, when he can attack the rim. Has the ability to shoot midrange jumpers as well.

Amare Almodovar 6-0, Point Guard, Monsignor Scanlan High School, The Nation, Class of 2030 - A guard that has the ability to make great plays and is wise beyond his years, as he is able to hold his own against older players. Is able to make his presence felt by getting to the basket with a quick first step and is able to get to the hole with ease. Is able to find his teammates when they’re open so that they can have scoring opportunities.

Kayleeb George 6-6, Forward, Eagle Academy I, Team Tracey, Class of 2027 - A forward that is a dominant force in the low post and is his team’s anchor in the paint area. Has the ability to make great plays especially in the front court, as he is a great rebounder on both ends of the floor and is a great shot blocker on the defensive end. Is a solid finisher at the rim, as he is known for throwing down powerful dunks.

Massa Toure 6-3, Shooting Guard, Notre Dame-West Haven High School, Team Tracey, Class of 2029 - A guard that is able to be a threat on the offensive end. Is able to drive to the basket efficiently and can finish through contact, as he is able to go to the basket and finish efficiently. Has a nice shooting stroke from three-point range, which he can use to his advantage.

Brandon Jean 6-3, Shooting Guard, Brunswick School, Team Watson, Class of 2027 - A guard that has the ability to be a force for his team on the offensive end and is very crafty on the offensive end. Has the ability to create for himself off the dribble by finding ways to get open and can get to the basket and finish efficiently. Has a nice shooting touch from three-point range.
