King School 2026-27 College Prospects
Founded in 1865, King School formerly King Low Heywood Thomas, is a private, coeducational, nonsectarian day school located on 36 acres in Stamford, CT about 23 miles northeast of the Bronx. Its enrollment is around 700, PreK through 12th grade.
Its boys varsity basketball team competes in the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) and vies for a bid in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class B (mid-sized school) division. The team has been on a successful run, including a 2024-25 FAA championship season, which was led by its D2 Florida Southern recruit, point guard, AJ Trimboli.
Former Scarsdale High (NY) head coach, Joe Amelio has taken over as the new coach. As a player, Coach Amelio played at St. Raymond High (Bronx) and then at Stevens Institute of Technology, where he was part of an NCAA D3 Sweet 16 team. His coaching path started as a volunteer assistant at St Raymond and then became head coach of their varsity B team where he led them to the CHSAA varsity “B” championship in 2018. He took over at Scarsdale in 2019-20. There he reset the program and made multiple deep postseason runs including Final Four appearances and a championship run. He placed players at Princeton and Lehigh, plus several high-academic D3 programs.

Justin Beazley (2027) 6’1 guard - Beazley made a strong impact last season, showing high basketball IQ and natural playmaking in a deep, talented backcourt. He has taken steps forward physically and mentally and is moving into a leadership role, bringing energy, communication, and consistency on both ends club ball with Rens United. 3.7 gpa
Krys Gaston (2027) 6’3 guard - Gaston is a long, athletic guard. His ability to knock down the three at a high level makes him a threat at all three levels. He can finish at the rim and has a solid mid-range game. Offered by Lincoln University (D2). Plays club ball with New Haven Heat. 3.6 gpa Video highlights
Matt Robinson (2027) 5’11 guard - Robinson is a dynamic two-way guard who brings energy on both ends of the floor. He has the ability to be a playmaker, create his own shot, and defend at a high level. His strong work ethic and attention to detail make him a valuable asset. Plays club ball 6th Boro Hoops. 3.4 gpa
