Big Talent on the Big River
Few prep programs pack as much basketball history into as small a school as New York Military Academy (NYMA). With roughly 50 cadets enrolled, the academy sits on about 120 acres in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, an hour’s drive along the Hudson River north of New York City. Its gym was built by the New York Knicks around 1970, when the franchise practiced on campus, and the school was once home to Camp All-America, the renowned summer camp run by Naismith Hall of Famer Clair Bee.
The modern chapter belongs to head coach Bobby Rahn, who took over in 2017 after Les McMillan’s 32 years at the helm of NYMA athletics. Rahn wasted little time: he brought home the school’s first-ever New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) championship, went on to win four Class D crowns over a five-year stretch, posted several 20-win seasons, and sent nearly 50 players to college programs within his first seven years. Since 2023-24, the Knights have climbed two NEPSAC classifications, and in 2025-26 the program expanded to two college prep rosters. Both finished above .500, with the NEPSAC squad going 14-10 and the Power 5 AA team posting a 13-9 mark. The NEPSAC’s record was achieved against such a high quality set of opponents, it cracked the nation’s Top 100 prep teams computer ranking.
That two-team model continues in 2026-27. The first squad competes in the Class B Small Division of the NEPSAC, where it is again positioned to contend for a tournament berth. The second plays a schedule on the Power 5 AA circuit.

Nymeer Dozier (2027) 6’2 point guard - 2026 NYC Academic Camp MVP. From Syracuse, NY, Dozier is built like a NFL running back. At 200lbs he has earned the nickname “Nightmare” and the “Bull Dozier” as he loves using his body to bounce off defenders and play through contact. A true pass-first point guard who loves to show that he is selfless and gets teammates involved. Don’t let that fool you though, as he can score at all 3 levels. He plays with a very high motor and shows versatility on the defensive end while being able to rebound the ball. Currently being recruited by all levels and holds a few offers. Dozier wants to study sports management when he gets to college. 3.1 gpa
Javien Flores (2027) 6’3 wing - From Danbury, CT, Flores is an athletic player who uses his very long wingspan to disrupt opponents. Flores can guard multiple positions and works hard on the defensive end. He actually loves playing defense and uses his size and athleticism to rebound. He scores the ball in a bunch of different ways but excels in transition. Flores takes pride in making the right plays and reads, loves getting teammates involved for open looks. 3.0 gpa
Jeremiah Frimpong (2027) 6’9 forward - From London, England, Frimpong is a high energy big. He uses his height and 250lb frame as a force on the interior. He rebounds at a high level and alters shots consistently in the paint. Frimpong is also an effective perimeter defender and runs the floor very well. He wants to study sports psychology in college. 3.0 gpa
Jaedan Hanley (2027) 6’0 guard - From Connecticut and a transfer from Marianapolis Prep (CT) who plays with a pass-first mentality and a high motor. He’s a scrappy guard who picks up 94 feet, stays active defensively, and will hit the floor for loose balls. Hanley can handle the ball, get downhill, make open shots and finish with either hand. What stands out most is his toughness and willingness to do whatever the team needs to win. He plays hard every possession, looks to get his teammates involved, and brings energy on both ends of the floor. Hanley wants to study business or communications in college.
Boresa Juwala (2027) 6’7 forward - From New Jersey, Juwala is a versatile forward who is built like a defensive end. He can score at all three levels and continues to improve his perimeter skills. He likes to attack the rim and use his size and strength to put pressure on the defense. He shows the ability to recognize double teams and mismatches to make the right pass and hit open teammates. He is a massive contributor on the glass when it comes to rebounding the basketball. Juwala is active and aggressive on both ends of the floor. He averaged a double-double last year. His goal is to continue developing his game and compete at the highest level possible. Juwala wants to study exercise science in college.
Elliot Hellmann (2027) 6’2 guard - From Danbury, CT Hellmann is a guy who can really score and fill it up from behind the arc shooting the ball at a high rate. The lefty guard has a nice balance to his offensive game and can play on or off-the-ball. He takes pride in playing hard and has a nose for the ball. He rebounds the ball well and is always willing to step in to take charges when he can. Hellmann wants to study psychology when he gets to college.
CJ Rodriguez (2027) 6’0 guard - From Plainfield, NJ, Rodriguez is a two-way guard who impacts the game with physical defense, downhill scoring and playmaking. He attacks closeouts, creates opportunities from pick-and-rolls, and uses his strength, quickness, and change of pace to get into the paint. Rodriguez can score from all three levels. He takes pride in his defensive presence pressuring the ball, fighting through screens, disrupting passing lanes, and making winning plays. Truly brings energy, toughness, and versatility to both ends of the court. He is a tremendous student who wants to study sports management in college and hopes to one day be a sports agent. 4.0 gpa
Jessiah Stephenson (2027) 6’4 wing - From New Jersey, Stephenson is an athletic wing who gets downhill and finishes well around the rim. He plays both sides of the ball with a high motor. He is also a versatile defender, good on both the perimeter and can hold up against bigger players in the paint. He also rebounds the basketball. Stephenson consistently makes plays that impact winning and shows true leadership on and off the court. He takes his academics very seriously and works just as hard in the classroom. He is excited to study physical therapy and kinesiology when he gets to college. 3.7 gpa
Garnett Torres (2027) 6’1 guard - From Massachusetts, Torres is a strong guard who plays with a lot of pace, energy and confidence. He likes to put pressure on the defense by creating off the dribble and getting downhill. He can be shifty and is comfortable in handling the ball, creating his own shot and making plays for his teammates. Defensively, he takes pride in being aggressive and making things difficult for opposing guards. Picks up full court using quickness and staying active on the ball. Torres wants to pursue studying business in college.
Adonis Gooden (2028) 6’1 point guard - From Canada, Gooden is a long and impressive player who can dribble and handle pressure well. He plays with poise and pace and does not allow anyone to speed him up. He is a good perimeter defender who can defend any position well. Gooden has a high IQ and shows the ability to run a team and an offense but is also a threat to shoot and score. He gets to the rim and finishes well through contact. 3.0 gpa
King James (2028) 6’0 point guard - From New York, NY, James takes pride in playing with energy and competing on both ends of the court. The 190lb guard shows strengths including his ball handling, creating for himself and his teammates, shooting, attacking the basket, and defending. James is a hard worker on and off the court and he is extremely coachable. He plans to study business in college. 3.0 gpa
