Diamond In The Rough Showcase 5/2/21

On Sunday, @Daves_Joint and @HoopsDreams_NYC were given billing as hosts for the May 2nd version of A Diamond in the Rough Showcase. But the lion’s share of the heavy lifting was done by the high energy coach and promoter Kaamil Dillard. The event was held at the Bronx River Community Center and was an opportunity for high school seniors, post-graduate players and players with college eligibility to showcase their talents. There were 47 college coaches in attendance, and more on the livestream.  Here are some of the high standouts:


Allou Cisse 6-6, Forward, Yonkers High School, Team Rust, Class of 2021 - A forward with a long wingspan that is very active when it comes to getting possession of the ball. Has the ability to block shots and uses his athleticism to his full advantage when he’s on the court. Finds ways to score when on the break.


Charles Lovett 5-11, Point Guard, Linden High School (NJ), Team White, Class of 2021 - A guard that is diminutive in terms of his size, but is a giant when he’s on the floor. Has the ability to drive to the paint and also is fearless when going to the hole. Is a good shooter from long range, as he is able to get his shot off in a good amount of time.


Davion Guity, 6-8, Forward, Hoops Academy (NC), Team White, Class of 2023 - A forward that has a strong build and is very imposing in the paint area. Has the ability to establish his presence in the paint and knows how to muscle his way into getting rebounds. Has good footwork and is able to get baskets as a result.


Abdias Carcamo 5-10, Point Guard, Woodstock Academy (CT), Team Dark Blue, Class of 2021 - A guard with a quick first step and good lateral movement on the floor. Is a player that can find his teammates as they’re moving around the floor. Loves to drive to the basket and is able to draw fouls with ease. Also has great court vision and always knows when and where to distribute passes to his teammates.


Aaron Parker 6-4, Forward, Seward Park High School, Team Dark Blue, Class of 2021 - A forward that is long and agile and is able to use his wingspan as an asset when he’s in the post. Is able to drive to the basket easily and is able to put the ball on the floor and get down the court with no problem.


Milo Scheve 6-7, Forward, Woodstock Academy, Team Dark Blue, Class of 2021 - A forward that is able to run up and down the floor and is able to function without the ball. Is great at setting picks and is able to roll off of it to receive a pass and get to the basket. Is great at getting to the perimeter to shoot from long range.


Nicholas Cham, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Olympus Prep (NJ), Team Green, Class of 2021 - A guard that is quick and explosive off the dribble and is able to get to the basket with ease. A guard that has the ability to stay with his man and always presents challenges. Has a good jumper from long range and can pull up with a floater.


Branden Pannell 6-2, Shooting Guard, LaSalle Academy, Team Green, Class of 2021 - A guard that can take control of the game when he is on the floor and brings plenty of energy when he’s in the game. Is able to handle the ball on the perimeter and uses his length to get past the defenders. Has the ability to shoot from long range and is able to move around when he’s off the ball.


Steven Turner 6-0, Point Guard, On Point Academy, Team Baby Blue, Class of 2021 - A guard that can score in bunches and is able to attack the basket in different ways. Is very quick and will find multiple waist get to the cup. Is good for shooting from the perimeter and has good hands that aid in him getting steals and going to the other end, and finishing at the other end with a basket. Has the ability to pass the ball at the right spots.


Etienne Musole, 6-0, Point Guard, Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Team Yellow, Class of 2021 - A guard that is able to get up and down the court and can absorb physical contact. Is a player that makes it a point to stick with his man on the floor. Has the ability to shoot from beyond the arc and finds ways to get open.


Justice Davis 5-11, Point Guard, Voyages Prep, Team Yellow, Class of 2021 - A guard that likes to bring the ball up the court and create plays when he has the ball in his hands. Is very quick on his first step and is very athletic when he goes up to the rim. Has the ability to direct traffic when he has the ball in his hands.


Chris Thompson, 6-5, Forward, Epic South High School, Team Light Blue, Class of 2021 - A guard with a long wingspan that is able to move across the floor efficiently. Is able to attack the basket with ease and is also looking to get the ball in his hands. Is able to get rebounds and also able to establish a presence on the defensive end.
