The New York Lightning (NYL) is one of the region’s most highly regarded grassroots programs, known for producing high talent, high character college-bound players and being stacked with a deep bench of excellent coaches. The program is co-directed by Dana Dingle and Shandue McNeill. Their 17u team that is coached by Kay Labrew is as follows:

Troy Fason Jr 5’11 point guard, St Francis Prep - Fason is strong and athletic, and that is combined with his relentless energy, making for a strong defender. On offense, he is creates his own shot off the dribble, and knocks down open threes.

Keiji “KG” Clifton (2025) 6’5 shooting guard, Forest Hills High - Clifton can shoot the ball, hitting on an average of three 3’s, and scoring 19 points a game for FHS this past winter. He was also is second on that team in rebounding.

Jeremiah “JoJo” Jacobs (2025) 6’8 small forward, Eagle Academy (Brooklyn) -  Jacobs is a top prospect. He helped lead his Eagle Academy team to a NYC Championship this past winter, with averages of 14 ppg,19rbds,and 5apg. He led the City in rebounding. He is a versatile scorer, both on the low block and from beyond the arc. He also has shown the ability to create off of the dribble and is hard to account for in pick-and-roll scenarios.

Yandell German (2027) 5’10 point guard, Our Savior Lutheran

Elijah Avery-Turner (2025) 6’2 wing, Daniel Hand High (CT) - Avery-Turner does it all. He’s a good athlete that can attack the rim off the bounce and he’s got a consistent jump shot. He’s good with the ball, having both the ability to make plays for himself and for others. He also utilizes his athleticism defensively, where he’s both a good rim protector an on-ball defender.

Ebubenna Nwabudu (2025) 6’6 forward, Elmont Memorial High
