The Academic Basketball Club is a Fairfield (CT) and Westchester (NY) County grassroots program focused on working with student athletes with a minimum gpa of 3.0. The program has earned renown for its impressive consistently high level of placement of its layers into top academic universities. ABC plays in tournaments throughout the Northeast, encourages its players to attend selected camps at the top academic universities and then plays as a Team at the Academic Basketball Camps at Babson College (MA) in and Pomona College (CA) in June.


The program was founded by Harvey Rubin. He and his long term coaching partner, Paul Krumins each run teams each spring, including a “National” team that pulls student athletes in from across the nation. Below are the players:

Kenny Mao (2025) 6’1 point guard, Post Grad School TBD - 2024 graduate of Roselle Catholic High (NJ). 3.9 gpa 1350 SAT


Zachary Zazula (2024) 6’6 wing, Greenwich High (CT) - 3.0 gpa


Will Dignan (2025) 6’1 guard, Brewster High - 3.9 gpa


Jordan Cohen-Mintz (2025) 6’5 wing, The Heschel School - 3.9 gpa 1560 SAT


Preston Neuenhaus (2025) 6’8 wing, Saddle River High (NJ) - 3.9 gpa


Jonas Wyman (2025) 6’0 point guard, Syosset High - 4.0 gpa 1440 SAT


Colin Finnerty (2027) 6’2 shooting guard, New Canaan High (CT) - 4.0 gpa


Thibaud Rubin (2025) 6’3 shooting guard, Fairfield Prep (CT) - 3.9 gpa


Henry Chandra (2026) 6’4 wing, New Canaan High (CT) - 3.9 gpa


George Pittman Alley (2025) 5’10 guard, Williston Northampton School (MA) - Alley can shoot the three ball well. He plays extremely hard and takes charges. 4.0 gpa 1360 SAT

 


2024 Academic Basketball Club - Krumins


Jack Nally (2026) 6’6 wing, Greens Farms Academy (CT) - Nally is a long, athletic wing that can shoot from beyond the arc and attack the basket from multiple angles. He competes on both ends of the floor and never backs down from a challenge. His defensive toughness and defensive prowess are impressive for his size. His jumping ability helps him protect the rim while also cleaning up on the glass at both ends of the floor. Loves the game and the grind. 3.9 gpa


Jackson Doyle (2025) 6’3 point guard, Foran High (CT) - Doyle is a smart and sound player with a good handle who shoots at a high level. He can create off the dribble or off the catch. With his quick release, he can get off shots over defenders. He hunts his shot when off the ball, and scores a lot of catch and shoot threes. Doyle has a good floater game off the dribble that can burn overly aggressive close outs against his jump shooting. He also gets into the paint and finds teammates. 4.5 gpa


Nico Lubas (2026) 6’3 wing, Stratford High (CT) - Lubas possesses excellent size and excels in running the floor with really good athleticism. He demonstrates versatility on offense and thrives without constant ball-handling responsibilities. With a smooth and quick release, he excels in pick-and-pop situations as the screener. He effectively drives to the basket and finishes well. He showcases a high shooting percentage in catch-and-shoot situations and is a strong offensive rebounder. 3.5 gpa

Scottie Conopask (2025) 6’4 shooting guard, Greens Farms Academy (CT) - A dynamic guard who can score in multiple ways. With a lightning-quick release, he’s a constant threat beyond the arc, and his off-the-dribble step-back adds versatility. Tenacious attacking at the rim and with several counter moves, he is a multifaceted scorer. Defensively, he is a fierce competitor and has the versatility guard multiple positions. A well-rounded player, and his positive demeanor and attitude contribute to a cohesive environment. 3.8 gpa

Blake Sosnowitz (2025) 5’11 point guard, Phoenix Country Day School (AZ) - 3.9 gpa


Josh Wallace (2025) 6’0 point guard, Weston High (CT) - Wallace possesses exceptional speed and quickness that allows him to relentlessly attack the basket. He is also a strong shooter who is equally effective at shooting off the dribble or catch and shoot. Defensively he is a ball hawk who excels at shooting the gaps in passing lanes for easy transition layups. Growing into a strong guard who is adept as a scorer or playmaker for teammates. 2023-24 All Southwest Conference Team. 3.9 gpa

 

Andrew Kibel (2025) 5’10 point guard, Perkiomen School (PA) - Kibel is a high school graduate from the academically-famous Bronx School of Science and is going into a PG year at Perkioman. His strengths are his quickness, ball handling and getting to the basket and kicking the ball out to create opportunities for his teammates
He is also good at long range three point shooting. 4.8 gpa, 11 APs with all 5s, 36 ACT.

Davis Currie (2025) 6’5 wing, Casady School (OK) - Currie plays a key role as a shooter. He also uses his length to be impactful on both ends of the court. He is great at getting the details right to ensure success for his team. 3.9 gpa

 

Griffin Taber (2025) 6’4 wing, St Andrews School (RI) - Hails from Dallas, TX and is now a post grad at the NEPSAC AA school. An outstanding shooter! Has deep range and ability to put ball on the floor. Versatile defender that can guard the 1-4.  High motor/energy. Solid rebounder on both ends, and is a playmaker for his teammates. High basketball IQ. 3.9 gpa

 

Gur Dhillon (2025) 6’7 power forward, Brewster Academy (PG) - Dhillon is from Texas where he was ranked as the #16th power forward in Texas according to PrepHoops.com. Dhillon is a unique player as he is very versatile with his back to the basket and can score with his footwork or be a playmaker. Dhillon had received 1st team All-District and Newcomer of the Year in his senior year playing for TCA. Dhillon had received 18 offers from small college programs. He is currently trying to play at a higher level. 3.2 gpa

 

Jack Van Amburg (2026) 6’0 point guard, Catalina Foothills (AZ) - 3.7 gpa

 

Sam Spencer (2026) 5’11 point guard, The Potomac School (VA) - 3.9 gpa

 

Nolan Weathers (2026) 6’1 guard, Riverdale Country School NYC - 3.8 gpa

 

Finland Bradford (2026) 6’2 shooting guard, Denver School of Science & Technology (CO) - 4.0 gpa

 

Cyrus Hutchison (2026) small forward, Brewster Academy (NH) - Hutchison is three-time All-League and All-Conference for The Meadows School (Las Vegas). Earned conference MVP and 2nd team All State last season. Led his school to a 68-17 overall record, 42-2 in league, two state title appearances, and one victory over the last three years. Hutchison tallied over 1100 career points, stuffing the stat sheet last year with 535 pts, 78 steals, 103 assists, and 141 rebounds. Hutchison is a versatile player and strong athlete who can score from all levels, facilitate, and defend 1 through 4. 3.2 gpa


Jeremiah Trimm (2026) 6’4 small forward, George Washington High (CO) - 3.2 gpa

 

Leland McLaughlin (2026) 6’4 forward, Marin Catholic High (CA) - McLaughlin is rehabbing an injury that will keep him out of the summer events. He is best at shooting the three. But can handle the ball and get to the basket when needed. He also can post up due to his size and get a bucket in the paint. With his size, McLaughlin also can guard bigs and other wings.This link is to his highlights for the 2023-24 season.
