2024 Watson Basketball Classic Quarterfinals Top Performers

On Saturday, August 24, the action was at Parque de Los Ninos Playground in The Bronx for the quarterfinals of the Watson Basketball Classic. On this date, we caught two games as The Nation played GTA and Team Watson played against Team Tracey. In the end, The Nation and Team Watson would win to advance to the semifinals, which will take place this coming weekend. Below are the standouts from Saturday’s action.
Keith McKnight 6-5 Shooting Guard, Hudson Catholic High School (NJ), The Nation, Class of 2025 - A guard that has a long wingspan and has the ability to make great plays on both ends of the court. Is able to run down the floor efficiently and on the fast break. Is able to showcase his athleticism by throwing down powerful dunks on the court.
Ryan Edwards 6-3 Shooting Guard, St. John’s Preparatory High School, The Nation, Class of 2026 - A guard that is able to blow past defenders with a quick first step and is able to hold his own on the court. Has a nice jumper from long range and can attack in transition. Has good hands and is able to obtain steals on the defensive end, which can lead to a basket.
Vere Anthony 6-0 Point Guard, St. Francis Preparatory High School, GTA, Class of 2025 - A guard that is a consummate playmaker whenever he’s on the floor. Has a penchant for playing great defense on his man and also forcing the opposition into turning over the ball. Uses his speed to his advantage on the offensive end as he is able to attack the basket on a fast-break.
RJ Walker 6-0 Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy I, GTA, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to make his presence felt by finding ways to get open. Is a dangerous three-point shooter and can show his craftiness by getting to the basket with ease. Has the ability to dish out passes to his teammates that will put them in position to score.
Nigel Moore 6-2, Shooting Guard, St. Francis Preparatory High School, GTA, Class of 2026 - A guard that has a penchant for being a scoring machine in transition. Is a player that likes to hit midrange jumpers and is always good for open looks when he is not heavily guarded by the opposition. Is able to make good passes and dish out to his teammates whenever they are open.
Josiah Davis 6-5, Small Forward, DeWitt Clinton High School, Team Watson, Class of 2026 - A small forward that is very athletic and is always able to make an impact on the floor for his team on both ends of the court. Is able to run well downpour and is able to throw down explosive dunks when going up for two. Is able to get his shot off when he is on the corner, after having anticipated a pass when left open.
Zoumana Traore 6-8, Forward, Milbrook School, Team Watson, Class of 2025 - A forward that has a penchant for playing tough and using his length on both ends of the court. Is able to attack the glass for rebounds and is able to outwork stronger or bigger players for the ball. Is able to be explosive when going up for two at the rim. Is able to put the ball on the floor and can finish at the basket when going up for a layup.
Amadou Fall 6-8, Forward, Milbrook School, Team Watson, Class of 2025 - A forward that is a dominant force when he’s in the post area. Has a penchant for blocking shots and obtaining rebounds in the post area. Is able to do the small things on both ends of the court, which includes passing and putting the ball on the floor. Is a good finisher when going to the basket and is fearless when backing down the opposition and finishing on the offense.
Kion Danso 5-10, Point Guard, DeWitt Clinton High School, Team Watson, Class of 2026 - A guard that is quick and deceptive when he’s on the floor. Is able to get past his defender and can finish efficiently when going up to score. Likes to put his teammates in position to score by hitting them off with passes that can put them in scoring position.
Khamari Broomfield 6-0, Shooting Guard, 238 Academy, Team Tracey, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to be a true playmaker on the court and is a good shooter from the wing. Is a good defender that is prone to getting steals and use his quickness to his advantage when he’s going on the fast break. Has the ability to drive to the basket and finish smoothly.
Christian Smiley 6-6, Forward, Knox School, Team Tracey, Class of 2025 - A forward with a long wingspan and the ability to beat his man off the dribble. Has a nice jump shot, which he is prone to using when on the midrange. Is able to absorb contact when going to the basket and can finish efficiently and is able to get to the free-throw line easily.
