2024-25 Trinity Pawling School Season Preview

The Trinity-Pawling School is a boarding prep school in Dutchess County, NY that was founded in 1907. It’s boys varsity basketball team competes in two leagues, the Founders League and the Tri-State League and competes to get seeded in the NEPSAC Class A (large school) post season tournament.
Tarik Smith is going into his fourth year at the helm of the team. Back in the day, Smith was captain of the basketball team at Tufts University where he led the Jumbos to the NCAA Elite 8 and Sweet 16 in back-to-back years.
The team will be running an Open Gym schedule this fall and encourage college scouts to attend.
Historically, Trinity-Pawling’s key players and those of its opponents are all prepping to play collegiate ball. This year is no different, and below are profiles on TP’s 2024-25 key players:
Benedek Maly (2025) 6-7 small forward - Slasher with high IQ and guard skills. Rim protector, rebounder and plays above the rim. Plays AAU with Rens United. 3.8 gpa
Jaice Martabano 6’2 (2025) guard - Scoring guard with range from 3 and makes plays for others. Good size for guard position. Plays AAU with Cap City. 3.8 gpa
Ben Ayugi (2027) 6-9 forward - Lengthy rim protector and solid jump shooter. Plays above the rim. Plays AAU with Riverside Hawks.
Abdul-Malik Akewushola (2025) 6’8 forward - Good footwork around the rim. Plays above the rim and strong finisher. 3.5 gpa
Mikey Malachi (2026) 6’0 point guard - Twitchy quick point guard and plays at his own pace. Crafty scorer. Playmaker and lock down defender. 3.7 gpa
Jace Emerson (2025) 6’5 small forward - Strong wing with range to 3. Good footwork around the rim.
Liam Norton (2027) 6’5 guard - Shooter with good size, can put the ball on the floor, and has lots of upside.
Ryan Bellamy (2025) 5’9 point guard - Quick guard with good handle and ability to run an offense. Good on ball defender.
Aaden Walters (2028) 6’0 guard - Aggressive guard who shoots with range. Good slasher.
Anthony Walters (2028) 6’0 point guard - Lead guard with good handle and playmaking ability.
Jackson Connors (2028) 6-2 guard - Shooter with range. Crafty with the ball.
Teddy Murphy (2028) 5’9 point guard - Quick with a good handle and range from deep.
