2025 Rens United CT Player Profiles

Rens United is an high academic oriented team affiliated with the renown NY Rens program. The program is New York City based but players are sourced from multiple states. They have a strong history of sending athletes to high-academic universities at all three levels across the northeast.


The Rens United CT teams are drawing prospects from the southwest region of Connecticut, and their 16u and 17u teams are head coached by former Southern Connecticut State star, TJ Trimboli. The team competes in the MADE Hoops Circuit.

The 2025 Rens United CT 17u roster is as follows:

 

Nasir Dunlap (2026) 6’3 guard, Notre Dame-Fairfield High (CT) - Dunlap is a powerful finisher with a knack for attacking the basket, absorbing contact, drawing fouls, and crashing the glass.  He is sneaky athletic and a strong solid defender.  Look for him this upcoming season to make more of a name for himself.

 

Jaylen Johnson (2026) 6’0 point guard, Brunswick School (CT) - Johnson is a solid floor general.  He is a very good decision maker, a strong and solid defender. He gets to the rim well, and can knock down the 3.  A great teammate. In Coach Trimboli’s well-versed opinion, Johnson is currently under-recruited, but definitely a scholarship player. 3.8 gpa

 

Kollen Kyle (2026) 6’5 shooting guard, Weston High (CT) - Kyle is a big wing that competes. 2024-26 South Western Conference Honorable Mention as a junior. He showcases a clutch gene and deep-range prowess.  He is a high academic prospect and will continue to develop his game.  High gpa

 

Jameer Reed (2026) 6’6 forward, Notre Dame-Fairfield High - Reed is a multi-positional forward with solid handle and versatility. Really understands how to play the game and has a very high IQ.  Recently competed on the New Zealand 19u National team.  In Coach Trimboli’s opinion he is a scholarship player because he does so many things so well.  3.3 gpa

 

Henry Simon (2026) 6’3 guard, King School (CT) - A skilled two-way guard with a smooth shooting stroke and a FG% of 54%.  2024-25 All FAA Honorable Mention and All Defensive Team.  Performed very well in the two June NEPSAC showcases. Simon and is getting recognition recognized as a high academic prospect.  3.5 gpa

 

Jared Strand (2026) 6’5 small forward, Canterbury School (CT) - A rangy and athletic wing who can score off the bounce, shoots beyond the arc, and uses physical strength to his advantage.  Solid player with recognition as an underrated prospect in New England; he’s drawn interest from the Ivies and the high academic D3s.

 

AJ Trimboli (2026) 5’10 point guard, King School (CT) -  A high-IQ guard coming from a basketball family—his dad (and current AAU coach) was a Division II All-American and his uncle (and current high school coach) was a 2,000 point scorer at the University of Vermont.  For the past two seasons, Trimboli has been a 50+ FG%, 40+ 3FG%, 90+ FT% guy. Last season was very big for him as he earned 1st team All FAA and was an All NEPSAC selection averaging 20ppg and 6apg.  Holds a D1 offer from Florida Southern and has interest from many other schools in the NE-10, NEC, IVY, NESCAC, and Liberty League.  3.7 gpa

 

Tavaris Tweedie (2026) 6’1 guard, Brien McMahon High (CT) - Tweedie is a very athletic guard that can defend multiple positions and is a great slasher.  As he continues to develop his shooting, he should see some interest from multiple schools that love to press, play fast, and run.

Brandon Acosta (2027) 6’3 shooting guard, Bunnell High (CT) - Acosta is an athletic guard that is tenacious on the offensive glass and can knock down the open shot.  He has the ability to guard multiple positions because of his athleticism, look for him to be a major contributor this upcoming season at Bunnell.


Ethan Bien Aime (2027) 6’2 guard, St Lukes School (CT) - Bien Aime comes from a family of brothers who exceled in D1 basketball. He is a crafty lefty guard who gets to the rim and can also knock down the 3 ball. He is defensively versatile in being able to guard multiple positions.  He is very athletic and he will continue to refine his decision making skills. Look for him to have a breakout junior season. 3.2 gpa

 

Christian Cournoo (2027)- 6’3 guard, Hamden Hall Country Day (CT) - Cournoo is a very athletic wing that does everything a coach can ask for.  Defensively he can guard multiple positions and offensively is a great finisher at the rim but can also step outside and knock down the 3.  With his high scholastic work, he should be on all the high academic college radars.  4.4 gpa

 

Leneil “Chedo” Jones Jr. (2027) 6’1 guard, St Lukes School (CT) - Jones is a versatile guard that can put it on the floor and get to his spot for his great midrange game.  The MADE Hoops circuit and NEPSAC play in the winter will continue to help him develop his game as a next level prospect. 

 

Shelby Pitard (2027) 6’4 small forward, Bunnell High (CT) - Pitard is currently a new-to-the-high-level-game raw talent. He is a strong kid physically and a great competitor. He has already come a long way from the beginning of the season.  He finishes well and has a soft touch around the basket.  He also has the ability to step out and shoot the 3.  Look for him to continue to learn the game and develop into a really solid player.

 

Roddy Ricketts (2027) 6’1 guard, Bunnell High (CT) - Ricketts is two sport athlete (football) that shows strong athleticism on the court and field.  He is an athletic guard with natural physical tools and willful intensity nurtured by his football background.  He is a tenacious defender and the ultra competitor. He is a high-ceiling athlete. Holds multiple D1 offers in football, including Central Connecticut and Syracuse. 

 

Ryan Trimboli (2028) 6’1 guard, King School (CT) - Like his older brother, AJ, Trimboli is also descending from Connecticut basketball family royalty. Accordingly, he is an high-IQ player.  As a freshman guard, playing varsity, he is already making an impact at the NEPSAC level and standout in the Fairchester league.  He averaged 9.6 ppg and was a major contributor in King’s FAA title run this past season. A very hard worker with a tremendous love for the game, his upside is very high.
