Holy Cross (NY) 2026-27 Player Profiles
Opened in 1955, Holy Cross High was the first all-boys Catholic high school in Queens. It was sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross and sits in the Diocese of Brooklyn,but receives no financial assistance from the diocese or any parish. It went co-ed in 2018, and now serves about 650 students, grades 9-12.
The boys varsity basketball team competes in the Catholic High School Association, Brooklyn-Queens AA division.
The team is coached by Billy Turnage. Coach Turnage is a Queens native. Played three years at point guard for Holy Cross from 1989-1992. Finished his playing career at Stony Brook University and York College.
His high school coaching path got started as a St. Mary’s (Manhasset, NY) varsity assistant, then head freshman and junior varsity coach while continuing as a varsity assistant. He got his first stint at Holy Cross for two years as a varsity assistant. For 2006-2023, he was the head coach at Wings Academy, Bronx (2006-07 through 2022-23). There, at school with no basketball tradition, we took them to 12 PSAL Bronx AA borough championships, 11 appearances in the NYC PSAL finals, 2015 PSAL AA city championship, 2015 New York State Federation Class AA championship, 2015 appearance in the Dick’s Sporting Goods High School Nationals, when they peaked at No. 15 in USA Today’s national rankings in 2015. His Wings stint included a nine-year stretch without a PSAL regular-season league loss, 119-0 over that span.
Turnage cites a 95 percent college acceptance rate among his players, framing them as students first. The Wings program drew national attention beyond results: filmmaker Will Robson-Scott’s short documentary “Wings” which followed Turnage and point guard Desure Buie through a PSAL playoff run.
In 2023, Coach Turnage return to the Holy Cross program he played for and first assisted at. His stated approach: up-tempo offense paired with changing defenses to keep opponents off balance, and a goal of being in the city-title conversation annually.

Stephon Cox Jr. (2027) 6’6 forward - Cox is a versatile defender who can guard all five positions with ease, using his strength and quickness to shut down opponents. Offensively, he’s a reliable scorer who consistently hits midrange shots and finishes strong at the rim, making him a dynamic two-way player. Plays club ball with Wiz Kids.
Josh Fleaurant (2027) 5’8 point guard
Donovan Medley (2027) 5’11 guard - Medley can play either guard spot. He is smooth and elusive with his handle and can turn that into a smooth pull up jumper. 3.4 gpa
Devin Bey (2028) 6’3 guard - Bey is an above-average playmaker with sneaky athleticism and a strong feel for the game. Defensively, he anticipates well and generates steals. His jump shot is smooth and fluid. Plays club ball with New Heights NYC.
Mikey Brown (2028) 6’1 combo guard
Aston Pierre-Charles (2028) 6’2 combo guard - 2024-25 Long Island Freshman Player of the Year. Pierre-Charles was one of the top scorers at the 16u level of 3SSB play this AAU season. He is dangerous as a shooter, but equally capable of getting to the rim as well. Plays club ball with Wiz Kids.
Peyton Thompson (2028) 6’4 forward
Maxwell Tillman (2028) 6’2 forward
Payton Wilson (2028) 6’8 forward - Wilson is a springy and lengthy big who plays exceptionally hard. Few players in the city are able to handle his speed, size and athleticism combined. Has received multiple D1 offers, including Has been offered by Rhode Island, High Point and Manhattan.
Malachi Miller (2029) 5’10 point guard - Miller is a low-to-the-ground lead guard who creates problems for defenses in a variety of ways. He uses his tight ball handling to consistently get paint touches, where he can score with runners or find open teammates after drawing multiple defenders. He also is explosive coming out pick-and-roll situations, where he quickly gets over hedges, to either finish at the rim or find shooters beyond the arc. Miller is also able to break down his defender and knock down tough shots off the dribble.
