2024 CHSAA AA Semifinals Top Performers

On Wednesday night, March 6, Rose Hill Gymnasium on the campus of Fordham University in The Bronx was the setting for the CHSAA AA semifinals. Nazareth Regional High School (Brooklyn) played against The Bronx’s St. Raymond High School (The Bronx) in the first game. In the second game, Archbishop Stepinac High School (White Plains) played St. Francis Preparatory High School (Queen’s). In the end, Nazareth and Archbishop Stepinac would win their respective games and would advance to the championship game, which will be played on Sunday afternoon, also at Fordham.

 

Below are the standouts from Wednesday’s game:

 

Brandon Stores, Jr., 6-4, Forward, St. Raymond High School, Class of 2025 (Georgia Tech commit) - A forward that is strong and agile and can hold his own on the court. Is able to put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket. Has a penchant for obtaining rebounds and shows plenty of versatility, as he is able to shoot from the perimeter.


Anderson Diaz 6-1, Point Guard. St. Raymond High School, Class of 2027 - A guard that is wise beyond his years and is very poised on the court. Is able to be a creative playmaker on the court and is a great decision maker when he has the ball in his hands. Finds ways to deliver the ball to his teammates when the opportunity to present itself.


Kamari Whyte 6-4, Shooting Guard, St. Raymond High School, Class of 2026 - A guard that is very active on the court and has the ability to make his presence felt on the floor at all times. Is able to drive to the basket and get to the free throw line with ease. Is a solid defender that will stick with the opposition at all times and is able to obtain steals.


Tristan Rogers 6-1, Point Guard, Nazareth High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that has excellent court vision and is able to control the tempo of the game for his team. Is also fearless, as he is able to crash the boards and get up for rebounds for his team when the opportunity presents itself. Is willing to find his teammates and put them in position to score.


Halon Rawlins 6-6, Forward, Nazareth High School, Class of 2025 - A forward that is very strong and agile and is able to use his physicality to be a force for his team. Not only is he a great rebounder in the low block for his team, but he is also an efficient shot blocker, who is also able to time when the opposition is going up for a shot. Also finds ways to draw fouls to get to the free-throw line.


Jasiah Jervis 6-5, Shooting Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2026 - A guard that is a huge asset to his team when he is scoring in bunches. Has a nice shooting touch and is a solid three-point shooter. Finds ways to be efficient on the boards and is able to assist with getting rebounds for his squad.


Braylan Ritvo 6-7, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2024 (Quinnipiac University commit)- A forward that is able to do many things on the floor for his team. Is a great defensive presence on the floor, as he is able to force the opposition into turnovers. Finds ways to drive to the basket and is a good finisher.


Johnuel Fland 6-3, Point Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2024 (University of Kentucky commit) - A guard that is able to make great decisions on the floor and is a great all-around player on the floor. Has the ability to control his teammates’ movement on the floor and is able to make great shots when the opportunity presents itself. Is willing to play defense, which aids in him obtaining steals & is also great at crashing the boards and then running down court. able to make

 

Oesoemana Sacko 6-7, Forward, St. Francis Preparatory High School, Class of 2026 - A forward that is strong and physically imposing when on the floor. Is able to put the ball on the floor and likes to drive to the basket & is a good finisher. Uses his physicality to absorb contact and can get to the free-throw line.


Troy Fason, Jr. 5-10, Shooting Guard, St. Francis Preparatory High School, Class of 2026 -A guard that has plenty of quickness on the floor and looks to attack on the offensive end. Has a penchant for getting his shot off efficiently on the wing and is fearless when it comes to absorbing contact, which aids in him getting to the free-throw line. Has a penchant for obtaining rebounds by out working the opposition despite his smaller frame.


Vere Anthony 6-0, Point Guard, St. Francis Preparatory High School, Class of 2026 - A guard that has a penchant that for being a floor general on the court and has excellent court vision. Despite his injury, he was still able to showcase his toughness and will on the floor. Is able to finish in transition and can make passes to streaking teammates that are going to the basket. Has the ability to also get to the post area and outwork the opposition for rebounds.
